With less than 5 days to go until Christmas Day we are excited to help you showcase your dining table for the big day. Whether it be a Christmas BBQ Lunch, Brunch or a Formal dinner with all the trimmings, your dining table will shine with a few DIY decorations that won’t break the bank and will look spectacular. Use your supplies or look to hunt and gather from your outdoor areas like neighbourhood trees, beaches or parks.
Aussie Casual Table
You don’t have to look far for Aussie flora and fauna to add some colour to your dining table.
Over a simple white table cloth you can lay hessian runner and add a simple garland. We love native branches of gum, eucalyptus leaves and waratah flowers scattered along the centre of the table or placed loosely in jam jars or random sized vases in the centre of the table. Simple yet effective this Australian table setting is relaxed yet sophisticated. Make your own personalised Aussie Christmas bonbons using cardboard cylinders and wrapping paper.
Beach Theme Christmas Table
As most of us live near the beach in Australia it is not hard to see why beach themes are a popular choice for interiors inspiration. A beach themed Christmas table is easily achieved at your local two dollar store or at your closest beach. Gather shells, sand, driftwood and any other interesting items from the sea shore. Use cool coloured or pastel baubles to bring in an element of colour. Create a Christmas tree or Christmas stars by gluing driftwood together or tie with string for a rustic effect. Battery operated string lights and tea light candles will complete the beach theme.
Coloured Theme Table
Choosing two colours that are harmonious is also a sophisticated theme for a Christmas dining table. You can go formal using golds and blacks or red and greens. Pastel colours matched with creams and pearl tones add a touch of understated elegance while still being festive. Coordinate your colour choice with matching napkins, bonbons cutlery and table wear. Bows tied around chair backs and gits wrapped with ribbons in your colour choice will add to the simple but effective colour coordinated theme.
Traditional Christmas Table
Nothing beats a fully dressed Christmas Table. The sky is the limit with decorations … once again gather what you have at home or look to the outdoors for inspiration. Pine Cones, baubles, fairly lights, tinsel and anything you have for your tree can be used on your dining table too. Christmas Bush is a popular choice for a floral arrangement along with the favourites like mistletoe, holly and conifer foliage. Add candelabras for a traditional feel as well as napery that has motives including napkins, table runners and a festive table cloth. Bring out your best silverware and you have Christmas day all wrapped up.
