As with every season Interior trends and inspirations come and go like swings and roundabouts.
Interior designers love to experiment with colours and textures and are not afraid to be bold when it comes to hues and tones.
We spoke to Ken Moncrieff visual merchandiser and stylist at Moss Furniture to gain his insights into the latest Interior trends to be on the lookout for in the coming year.
Here are a few of his 2019 predictions:
Gold is here to stay!
Ken explains that we are continuing to see gold tones in all aspects of interior design.
Gold is featuring heavily in custom made tables, console tables, trays, mirrors, artwork and homewares.
Live a Colourful Life
Colour is on the tip of any interior designer’s lips and this year there is a lot of chatter about soft pastels against white or neutral coloured interiors.
Coral is the Pantone colour of the year but we are also seeing a lot of other bolder colours such as deep teals, navy blues, and the warmer tones of Saffron and vibrant Mustards and of course the ever popular black.
We love Luxe Velvets
Velvet is making a comeback and will be around for the foreseeable future the silky smooth fabric creates a touch of luxe in any space.
We are seeing Velvet featuring in headboards, lounges, cushions and especially, our favourite at Moss Furniture velvet dining chairs.
Everything old is new again
Art Deco influences are beginning to creep back into modern day homes. Curved furniture is paving the way especially in lounges and custom made dining tables we are seeing a few more subtle shapes and less corners in furniture design.
Round Ottomans are making a comeback doubling as seating and a spare coffee table.
We are witnessing a shift towards sustainable natural fabrics and ethically sourced furs and skin or hide products.
Moss Furniture stocks sustainably sourced cowhides, furs and skin items including floor rugs, cushions and throws. We also love and stock faux fur products that are just like the real thing.
It’s crucial as an interior designer to keep up with the latest colours, textures and trends in this fast paced industry.
