Entertaining at home on Australia Day
January 12, 2016
Entertaining on Australia Day is all about joining in the celebration that inspires the nation on January 26. If you’re keen to host such a party, here are some ideas to get you started…
- If you’re close to your neighbours, or keen to build a better relationship with them, organise a street party so that everyone in your road or building can participate. Living in a quiet street or cul-de-sac can help if this is your plan. If you’re on a busy road, it’s a good idea to move the festivities off the street and on to a safer backyard or driveway.
- Traditionally, Aussies celebrate by firing up the BBQ at home or having a picnic at a local park. If you’re celebrating at home, give your party a ‘true blue’ Aussie theme and serve damper, pavlova and meat pies with the obligatory tomato sauce. Play a soundtrack of popular Australian music to give the party a true Aussie vibe and fly the Australian flag. Don’t forget to ensure that you have enough outdoor furniture to accommodate everyone and that there’s room in your backyard for a game of cricket. If you don’t have a pool, perhaps you could invest in an inflatable pool or put out a water sprinkler so that your family and children can enjoy some water fun if it’s warm. Don’t forget to put on a hat and some sunscreen!
- Serve up some lamingtons to your guests. Did you know that our Caesarstone tables make the perfect prepping surface for baking? They feature a non-porous and scratch resistant surface and are extremely durable. Best of all, they feature castors, so you can roll yours out to where all the party action is happening.
- Most importantly, enjoy yourself!
